About Us

Picture

The TX-20081 Air Force JROTC Group was established at Forney High School on August 27, 2008, by an agreement between the Forney ISD School District and the United States Air Force. Lieutenant Colonel Jobe, the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor, is a retired Air Force officer. Chief Master Sergeant Garcia, the second Aerospace Science Instructor, is a retired non-commissioned officer. These instructors have over 54 years of Air Force experience, including extensive backgrounds in leadership, management, aerospace, world history, aviation, and future-readiness.

As members of the TX-20081, the students in Air Force Junior ROTC are referred to as Cadets. TX-20081 consists of Cadets from both Forney High School and North Forney High School. The Cadet Group is managed and operated by Cadet Officers and Non-commissioned Officers. This organizational structure allows cadets to learn leadership skills through direct activities as they progress through the course.

The program strives to provide Cadets with leadership opportunities to make informed decisions and develop the personal confidence and pride needed to avoid negative peer pressures and attain life skills that enhance success after graduation.
Our Mission Statement is to, “Develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community.” We aim high to do the best for our community as each Cadet in TX-20081 earns at least 12 hours of community service each year. We provide every Cadet with opportunities to earn hours and experience while serving others. The Corps performs in many different community service details, from presenting The Colors at football games to canned food drives for the citizens of Forney and surrounding areas.

In class, we study aerospace, leadership and life skills, Drill, physical training and more. We provide many opportunities outside of class as well, including Drill, Flight Academy, Drone Team, Stellar Xplorers, as well as field trips and Hangouts. Field trips in the past have included The Fort Worth Airshow, Lockheed Martin, Southwest Airlines, Lackland Air Force Base, Barksdale Air Force Base, and many more.

AFJROTC is the best choice to develop well-rounded students ready to succeed in their futures, regardless of whether that means going to college or a trade school, straight into the workforce, or directly into the military.
WE ARE NOT IN THE MILITARY RECRUITING BUSINESS :)
